We are currently working on (among other things) “groups” - the ability to put your crew into pre-selected groups and send them into battle.
The screenshots are still very much a work in progress, but we wanted to give you some insight into how we build these things.
The goal with groups is to allow the player to send a group of crew members to a location without having to go all over the ship looking for them. It’s a very common mechanic in RTS games and something that should really improve the flow of the game.
Right now we have it conceived as a system similar to Final Fantasy Tactics - you pick the crew you want in the group and place them on the grid. From there you pick a custom callsign for them. This is all done through a new menu item that basically locks this group in.
When you are in game you now double tap the screen and your group icon selector pops up. You choose which group you want and send them where you want them to go.
There are quite a few challenges coming up with new play mechanics like this. What happens if one crew member is in multiple groups? How many crew members are enough? Are call-signs confusing? Will this make the game too easy or hard? How does this translate into a PC release? Are the controls intuitive? All of these things we try and measure.
We have quite a few more changes that we are working on including new missions. We will have more updates as we go. These changes will very likely be first seen on the Android release and iOS update that comes on Android release day.
For PC players this represents continued focusing on enhancing the game and getting things right. Our code is slowly moving toward universal and all these changes will affect all platforms as we continue on.

The Vocar Purification The Vocar have been detected moving into Midorian space and are destroying ships at random. They have made no formal declaration of war and their intentions remain a mystery. All communications between the Vocar and Star Command have been severed. It is up to your crew to get to the bottom of this mystery.
We would like to see your treatment of this scenario. What does that mean? You show us! It should probably include the following
• Brief premise of what the scenario will introduce and what the player will have to do to solve the problem.
• Mission ideas (these can be short write-ups). We will be looking for sensitivity to the confines of the game engine. “There is a huge armada sized battle going on around the player” is probably outside of the scope of our current game. That said, we would like to see original ideas and things that push the envelope and challenge us. We definitely get tunnel vision working on our own game.
• Dialog examples. With this we need to see two things. First, that you understand our balance of “humor” and world building. The game isn’t too serious but there is a nice balance. The second is sensitivity to player patience. No one likes to read diatribes - lets get to the point!
• World building. Show us that this expands our universe, plants seeds for cool stuff and makes the product better overall.
